Three Men in Kilts
It's all about us.

Marty Connolly, Bill Hannigan and Dan McGuire have been known as Three Men in Kilts since 1994, when they decided to combine their musical talents and perform for audiences.

Growing up on the Southside of Chicago, Bill learned to play the Highland Bagpipes, while a member of the Stockyards Kilty Band.. Marty, Bill and Dan were taught to sing by the good Sisters of St. Joseph, as grade school students at St. Bede the Venerable. Marty attended the Blessded William J. Bogan High School, while Bill went to St. Laurence O'Toole High School and Dan, Brother Rice High School...both lads known for their ability to take a punch administered by any/all of the Christian Brothers of Ireland. Marty and Bill continued on with their education and graduated from the Jesuit stronghold, Loyola University of Chicago and Dan graduated from the University of Chicago (FD) - Dekoven Street Campus.

The three have been friends since their Little League sandlot days. Both Bill and Dan were members of the Gaelic Fire Brigade Pipe Band, with Bill acting as Pipe Major, until it dissolved. Marty learned to play the guitar at the Old Town School of Folk Music.

The Band performs traditional Irish ballads, pub and rebel songs, Great Big Sea, Gaelic Storm, Saw Doctors Jimmy Buffett, The Beatles...and then some.

Following their first public performance at Jack and Barb Sullivan's Kolmar Lounge in Chicago, their popularity and number of performances grew due to their enthusiasm and willingness to play with the audience rather than just for them.

Three Men in Kilts have been invited to sing the National Anthem at Comiskey Park for the last 15 years. Additionally, the lads greeted and performed for our "Northside" neighbors in front of "The Cell " prior to the start of the White Sox-Cubs second meeting during the 1997 season and in front of Murphy's Bleachers in 1999, before the first game of that series. TMIK was also afforded the privilege to perform before each of the post-season games in 2000 vs. the Seattle Mariners and Opening Days, 2002 and 2004 and twice during the White Sox' Championship Season, 2005. TMIK has been afforded the honor to be a part of Chicago White Sox Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day festivities for the past 7 years.

Three Men in Kilts were honored to perform the Anthem prior to the 2008 ALCS "Tiebreaker," which the Chicago White Sox won vs. the Minnesota Twins to become the Divisional Champs.

For the record - the Chicago White Sox are 16 - 1 when Three Men in Kilts have performed for the Go - Go White Sox during the regular season.

Three Men in Kilts performed Our National Anthem prior to the Chicago Bulls vs Orland Magic basketball game on Saturday, March 18th, 2006...our first time at the United Center and with the Bulls.

TMIK has performed "live" on The Kevin Matthews' Talkmess, Jonathon Brandmeier's Showgram, WLUP-FM, The Steve Cochran Morning Show, The Huge Show, ESPN Radio-WMVP-AM, with Steve Dahl, WCKG and the Eric and Kathy Morning Show on WTMX-FM, 101.9.

Their first recording, "Songs Our Fathers Sang" was released on St. Patrick's Day, 1997. "Thirsty Work It Is" was released in November, 1999. Three Men in Kilts released their third CD, "It's Still Thirsty Work...Ten Years On!" on St. Patrick's Day, 2004. Bits of all three can be heard regularly on The Hagerty Family Show each Saturday on WPNA - 1490AM, as well as an occasional "live" performance with the Hagerty's.
